see you in the DAM!

A very interesting and thought provoking article. I imagine you will have heard through your British connections the media storm which swept these isles last week about Blatter and his comments. It was also widely reported here that it was not widely reported by any other countries in Europe nevermind the world. And where it was reported then it was done in a sort of "nothing to see here" vein. Then when a series of African FIFA executives queued up to praise Blatter following his hurried "Father Ted...not a racist" style interviews then we are left with the impression here that it really is a case of "the world" rolling their eyes at the FA and other home nations. As a matter of interest, were the comments/attacks by Grondona against Britain in general at the Blatter election reported in Argentina and, if so, were they supported?

Hi Richard,

Blatter's comments on race were hardly touched here. Grondona's about the English were covered. But he's so universally reviled, except by his bought friends, that most pay little attention to him.

Hi Olli,

The Argentine Football Association has announced that Argentina will play Bolivia in their 2012 World Cup qualifier in Cordoba. And the Racing v Argentinos Juniors game should be pretty easy to get tickets for. Either at the Racing stadium on the day or, if you want to watch with the away fans, at the Argentinos stadium ticket window the day before or the morning of the match. Suerte Daniel.

Hello Dan, I am going to be in Buenos Aires when Argentinos plays against Racing in Fecha 14. Will it be easy to get tickets for that game? Do you btw. have any idea where Argentina's game against Bolivia in the qualification for the World Cup will be played on 11th of November? I read earlier that it would be played in Mendoza, but then I saw that the company Tangol is selling tickets for that game and they are saying that it will be played at River Plate's stadium.

Best regards

heya! someone sent me a link with your blog and ive been reading pages after pages smiling like an idiot for all of your words regarding my beloved team, argentinos jrs.
I'm Argentinian, originally from paternal, and moved to the UK 4 and a half years ago. i used to be mad about football and just got WORSE since im here, surely the distance made the trick of becoming obsessed with the team, read every possible news, get involved in the message board, meet loads of fans on twitter and facebook and be in touch with them, apart of, obviously, watch every single match online at ridiculous o-clock times thanks to our (still) summer time +4 hours difference.
will deffo bookmark this page and come back to read you soon xx

Congratulations on reaching 100 posts!! I've been recommending people to read your stuff and it keeps me a bit closer to what's going on in Argentina, but from a more "real" angle than the newspaper.
Keep it up!!

I use Akismet to filter spam. Works great! http://akismet.com/

I agree that there was nothing to say about the game. If a ball happens to miraculously approach the goal line, a magic force field would have pushed it out. No goals were going to be scored.

Hi, is it really true that away fans are banned Primera B?

BR Olli

Hi Olli,

It is, as a reaction to past violence. Although the authorities seem to be making an exception for River Plate fans.
